Bloom of the Moment: The Poinsettia
“The Star of Bethlehem”
This season, my bloom of the moment is the classic poinsettia—and it’s easy to see why. With bold red, white, or pink bracts, this plant brings instant holiday warmth and festive color to any space. It’s traditional without feeling tired and effortlessly brightens a room.
I also love that the poinsettia carries real meaning. Known in Mexico as La Flor de Nochebuena, it’s long been a symbol of Christmas, adding nostalgia and beauty wherever it’s placed.
Poinsettia Care Tips
Give it bright, indirect light.
Keep it away from drafts and heating vents.
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry—don’t let it sit in standing water.
Avoid placing it in cold spaces (they’re sensitive to chilly temps!). Although its peak popularity is in the winter months, this is a tropical plant.
Whether you’re decorating, gifting, or just craving a little seasonal magic, the poinsettia delivers every time—and that’s why it’s having its moment at Bellished.
