My passion for florals is rooted in my childhood summers spent in New Bern, North Carolina. Every summer I was a helper to my grandparents, who planted and harvested cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, and string beans. My grandfather is a master at growing watermelon. Every August I would tag along as he would load up his watermelon harvest to sell from the back of his beat up hunting truck or help him pass out vegetables and fruits to underserved communities. When I wasn’t planting foodstuffs with my grandparents, I was creating and growing spring and summer gardens at my childhood home in Brandywine, Maryland. While I never forgot my love of floriculture and horticulture, growing up and being an adult meant life took me far away from my love of the earth. I went to college, got a few degrees, loved and lost, traveled far as and wide, became a homeowner, and survived Covid.

My passion tuned into commitment as I have obtained numerous certifications, including a certificate in Urban Agriculture from Prince George’s Community College. I also completed a year long floral assistant program at a local floral shop, where I was able to hone my design and practical skills in floristry. Bellished Florals is the end result of my commitment to return to the things that being me joy. I created Bellished as a space where I can just be me at my happiest. Bellished Florals is my love letter to the little girl who spent hours playing in wildflowers.
